Brooklyn Fare Hikes Menu to $225; Ottavia Bourdain to Wrestle for Festivus

Boerum Hill: The bargain era at Brooklyn Fare is nearly over, as dinner at the three-Michelin-starred restaurant is now $225 per person. The news is particularly sad because they’re about to go non-BYOB. [Price Hike]
Chelsea: Big Gay Ice Cream Shop kicks off their Seinfeld-inspired holiday celebration today, a two-day-long “Festivus for the rest of us,” with special Festivus Miracle Cones ($6). Stop by the shop tomorrow, December 23, to air your grievances in front of their webcam, a Festivus pole, and a wrestling match between owner Doug Quint and Ottavia Bourdain. All proceeds and donations over the next two days will benefit New York Cares (open both days from 2 to 11 p.m.). [Feed/TONY]
East Village: On Saturday, January 7, Phil Ward (Mayahuel) will host an intimate tequila and mezcal tasting SideTour. Guests will enjoy private tasting flights of six agave-based spirits while learning about the tequila industry, bartending in New York, and naming cocktails. Tickets are $85 per person. Flatiron : Jason Weiner, co-owner and chef at Almond, is hosting a Pig Roast on Christmas Eve, where he’ll roast a 25-pound Red Wattle heritage hog and serve it with seasonal salads, spaetzle, and dessert ($31 per person; 10 percent of proceeds will benefit charity the Pajama Program). Fort Greene: A mural of Notorious B.I.G. commissioned by the owner of Habana Outpost has sparked some authorship disagreement; the Parsons student who designed the image and the painters who applied the mural each think they deserve credit. [Animal via Eater]
Times Square: On Friday, January 6, Jamba Juice will celebrate the launch of their Fit and Fruitful smoothie with 74 bananas dancing in front of the NASDAQ offices at 10 a.m., followed by a parade to their Times Square location (712 Seventh Avenue). This holiday season, the folks over at the R Lounge at The Renaissance Hotel are presenting some weird and wonderful cocktails like the BVT (Bacon Vodka Tomato) which is quite the liquid diet. “It’s a sandwich as a cocktail,” says one fan. [Grub Street]
E & E Grill House will offer a special New Year’s Eve menu from 5 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, December 31 ($89 per person). [Grub Street]
Upstate: Owners of Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse (369 Stamets Road, New Jersey) Nina and Jonathan White (you can also find them at the Union Square Greenmarket) report in their newsletter that their youngest, autistic son is back on the farm after hospitalization and is doing well. The good news means the husband and wife team can return their attention to their beef and pork harvests, as well as their schedule of classes. A gift certificate to one of their classes ($50 per class), such as Braise, Broil and Roast: Jonathan’s Intro to Grass-fed Beef, Beyond Steaks and Burgers, or Charcuterie: Pate for Beginners, will make the perfect last-minute holiday gift for anyone on your list.
