In yesterday’s print edition of the Chron, Michael Bauer files a dismal review of Charles Phan’s Chinese street food joint, Wo Hing General Store. Although he had two decent meals, the third time he dined at the Valencia Street restaurant, Bauer was bummed out by the experience. The squid was “one of the worst fried dishes” he’s ever encountered, and the pork spare ribs were “impossible to eat.” He also wonders what the point is of using “great products if the cooks massacre them in the kitchen.” Although he awards Wo Hing two stars, he compares it “a ship without a rudder.” Proceed accordingly.
