Arevalo and Wade
It may be almost a year late, but the Chron just got to telling the story of Homeroom, the charming Oakland mac-and-cheese restaurant from first-time restaurateurs Allison Arevalo and Erin Wade that opened in February to the delight of many. The funniest takeaway: The tables, which we knew were fashioned from reclaimed wood taken from some high-school gymnasium bleachers, are all marked with the number eight because the boards all came from Row 8 in the bleachers. “We get people coming up saying, ‘We were eating at table 8’ and we’re like, ‘They’re all table 8,’ ” says Arevalo.
