The New Acme Is All About the Art Scene

Artsy foodie heaven.
Artsy foodie heaven.

Last week we told you that Acme wasn’t quite ready for the public, but that select VIPs were invited to a tasting. Now we know who: the art darlings of New York — Glenn O’Brien, Bill Powers, Cynthia Rowley, Parker Posey, China Chow, and Tom Sachs. Why? Because Acme is now owned by Jean-Marc Houmard and Jon Neidich. But also because Evanly Schindler, the founder of BlackBook and former president of Interview, who is new to the restaurant world but deeply involved with the art scene, is installing a gallery in the basement and art installations throughout the front-of-house design, begging several snobbish conversations on art as food and food as art.
