Fast on the trail of Umami Burger’s $100 grass-fed wagyu-and-truffle stunt comes the news that Whist at The Viceroy is offering more reasonable $60 white truffle-topped pizzas and $40 black truffle-topped pizzas every Friday evening from 6:00 to 10:00 P.M. Exec chef Tony DiSalvo and chef de cuisine Chris Crary (now know to Grub Street readers as “Cutie Chris Who Is Right Near Our Age” following his small-screen debut on Top Chef last night) will man the restaurant’s poolside pizza oven every Friday evening through November to offer the luxury pies, along with a $20 plain pie for those who don’t, to quote one colleague, “geek out over truffles.”
