State Looks to Permanently Change Rules About Cutting Cheese

Last summer when the Department of Agriculture tried to enforce that rule about cheese-cutting at farmers’ markets, a story that broke right here, there was sufficient outcry and media attention for the Department to reverse its position. Now the temporary exemption granted in July may land on the books: The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports that Albany is moving forward with legislation that would permanently exempt cheesemongers at farmers’ markets from needing a food-processing license.
