Pete Wells, who has served as the New York Times Dining Editor for five years, has been named to take the place of Sam Sifton in the powerful role of Restaurant Critic for the paper. They say in their announcement, “No one could be better prepared or respected for his superb writing, intimate knowledge of food and restaurants and deep commitment to our dining franchise.” [Grub Street NY]
