You’ll recall that Castro mainstay 2223 (a.k.a. the No-Name Restaurant) is changing hands after the new year to become Jake’s on Market, a down-home comfort-food eatery with a somewhat lower price point than its predecessor. Today the Scoop gets wind of the fact that Top Chef alum Erik Hopfinger — who recently did some consulting at Long Bar, before it shuttered, and previously worked The Waterfront, and Spoon where he earned a Chron Rising Star.

Hopfinger’s talking up potential diner-ish menu items like bacon-wrapped meatloaf, chicken-fried steak, and house-ground burgers with a blend of short rib, brisket and chuck.

And as mentioned before, new owners Tim Travelstead and Brad Becker — who’ve named the new place after their son, Jake — won’t be switching things over until January. 2223 remains operational in the interim.
