Chef Claude Segal Dies at Age 61

Claude Segal, the French chef who followed Wolfgang Puck at Ma Maison and had a 30 year career in L.A. at such restaurants as Ma Be, Bistango, Picnic, Drai’s, and Cafe Four Oaks, passed away last week in his West Hollywood home at the age of 61, following a fifteen-month fight with lung cancer. Russ Parsons pens Segal a tribute, in which Jean-Francois Meitinger fondly recalls, “He was one of the top and most creative chefs in Los Angeles…he was always full of life.” [LAT]
