Brothers John and Chris Trogner, better known as the duo behind Tröegs Brewing Co., opened the retail store attached to their new 90,000 square foot facility in Hershey, PA earlier this week. Brew Lounge reports that next week will see the debut of the brewery’s tasting room and an official grand opening celebration (or series of them) is slated for the first week of November. And while there’s word that the Trogners have already brewed a larger batch of their popular yuletide sipper, Mad Elf, the brew’s seldom seen close cousin, Naked Elf, will be one of the beers on offer tonight when Tröegs takes over the taps at the Khyber.

Naked Elf is sort of like the base beer behind Mad Elf; it’s a strong Belgian style triple sans the added cherry and honey that makes its better-known counterpart so maddening delicious. What remains after the flavors are stripped is an unfiltered hazy orange ale with plenty of body, spicy yeast taste and a gentle warming sensation from the high alcohol content.

It and 15 other Tröegs beers will be featured (full list below), including a selection of scratch beers typically only available at the brewery. To go along with the sampling of exceptional suds, the Khyber will have specials on that are inspired by Tröegs brews, including Dead Reckoning Porter chili, Sunshine Pils boiled peanuts, Tröegenator Doublebock brined and smoked pork chop, and Tröegs HopBack Amber BBQ sauce, and a Javahead Cask Ale coffee ice cream beer float.
