Those gals might be smart, but maybe they’re also just a teensy bit gullible! The Globe says that Smith College professors Jay Garfield and Jim Henle asked their logic students to fool classmates into thinking that Smith was going vegetarian and banning all meat. Dutiful Smithies ignited the rumor through Twitter, fake “healthy living clubs,” staged protests, and more. The campus promptly went crazy (what about protein?! what about coffee?!) before discovering that the classroom experiment was actually a hoax. “It wasn’t even drug-assisted. We’re just brilliant and slightly weird,” Professor Garfield said. Now if they could just figure out a logical argument for binge drinking and late-night calzone-eating. [Globe]
