Former Anella chef Joseph Ogrodnek left that restaurant in February to team up with business partner Walker Stern (the Vanderbilt) on New American spot Battersby, which opened last night on Smith Street. Ogrodnek tells us they'll serve a "tight, focused menu, that's changing all the time." (You can peek at the initial lineup below.) A first course might be calamari with chorizo, potato, and arugula; housemade paparadelle with duck ragu might follow; with seared scallops in vegetable broth with pistachio and Swiss chard after that. Ogrodnek and Stern did the build-out on the 30-seat space largely themselves, and in the warm months they'll open a backyard with additional seating. Take a look for yourself in our slideshow, and scope out the menu below.
