There will soon be a high-end cocktail option for those world-weary, transbay travelers exhausted from a three-hour trip through IKEA: Prizefighter, a new, non-boxing-themed bar from Bloodhound co-owner Dylan O’Brien and local bartender and recent Hendrick’s Gin brand ambassador Jon Santer. As Alcademics reports, the bar takes its name from an Eels song, “Prizefighter,” and not from the major brawl that happened not long ago at the space they’re moving into, the former Kitty’s at 6702 Hollis Street.

As for the drink program, it’ll be based on a concept not too familiar either to local cocktail geeks or boozehounds in general: “Sessionability: The ability of a beverage to be both delicious and highly drinkable in great quantities while leaving the imbiber lifted but not legless.” With that in mind, there will be a regular boozy cocktail list, as well as punches, “patio drinks” by the pitcher, and a list of “soda fountain” drinks that’ll be a little lighter in alcohol, with the idea that you can drink three or five without ending up on your ass. Perfect for day drinking, right?

Look for Prizefighter to swing open around mid-November.
