Roy Halladay facing lifelong chum Chris Carpenter from the mound tonight in the final round of the National League Division Series should make the game especially interesting. But over on Twitter, Marc Vetri and Danny Meyer are making it even more interesting. The St. Louis-born Shake Shack magnate, who has no choice but to root for the Cardinals after the Yankees choked in their series against the Tigers last night, tweeted “@marcvetri Phillies-Cardinals bet? Whosever team wins treats the other guy to dinner at one of his joints.” Vetri, who’s spent so much time in New York this week promoting his new book Rustic Italian Food that rumors began circulating of him opening a restaurant there, replied, “@dhmeyer very confident statement… You’re on! #dinner4twoatEMP.”
While Grub Philly is feeling a win for the Phightin’s, and subsequently a pretty sweet dinner for Vetri at Meyer’s Eleven Madison Park, its best we leave the predictions up to our brother blog the Sports Section. Honestly, we’re just in it for the food.
Oh, and tip for Vetri: Make that rezzie tonight as soon as the Phils cinch it. Otherwise you’re going to have to collect on bet with Shack Burgers.
