Congrats to Charlie McKenna and the team at Lillie’s Q, which grew out of McKenna’s experience as a competition barbecuer (as well as upscale chef at Avenues and elsewhere). The Lillie’s Q Facebook page reports that at the Battle of the BBQs in Franklin, Tennessee, the Lillie’s Q competition team took overall grand champion as well as 1st in shoulder, 1st in ribs, and 2nd in whole hog. The competition is part of Franklin’s annual Pumpkinfest, which draws an estimated 50,000 each fall. [Facebook via Eater]
