How Many OpenTable Accounts Do You Have?

Here’s a funny little item from Tavern at Lark Creek managing partner T.J. Jacobberger’s weekly front-of-house discourse over on the Scoop: Apparently it’s now common practice for people to have multiple OpenTable accounts, some under false names, so that they can make reservations without fear of reprisal if they don’t show up. Jacobberger, and other general manager types, are on to them, however, especially when they arrive for a reservation and they have no idea what name it’s under.

“Finally one of the people pulls out their iPhone and looks up the confirmation. Lo and behold, the name is Baker. There is no one in the group named Baker. This happens all the time,” writes Jacobberger. “I must have about 40 customers that are in OpenTable with at least three or four different names.” Wow. Things are shady up in Larkspur these days.
