The upcoming AQ Restaurant (1085 Mission Street between 6th and 7th), which is opening on October 26, will feature a high-end bar program from one of the city’s better known bartenders, as Grub Street discovers today. Owner Matt Semmelhack received approval today from the Planning Commission to add the bar, and now it’s just a matter of waiting until the full permit comes through. He says he’s currently interviewing “a couple guys from some of the best bars in the city” to head up the cocktail program, but he hasn’t made a hire just yet. Also, the full, Type 47 liquor license is still pending, so the restaurant may have to open with just beer and wine.
