We don’t know what kind of shady photos you may have already seen out there, but here’s a real, actual look inside of The Churchill, grand-opening this Friday on West Third Street from Beau Laughlin and Brett Cranston, owners of The Hudson. As reviewed last week, seasonal steward Jason Tuley is in the kitchen here, making locally procured dishes like squid salad and steak frites, while Susan Brink is in command of the restaurant’s bar program. And what’s inside?
The space is deliciously old-school, recalling both an upscale pub and a relaxed steak and Scotch haven in union, with chocolate leather booths, dark wood panels, exposed brick, vintage photos, and a polished communal table. A bright enclosed patio space will help handle overflow, while a photo booth will provide for drunken hi-jinks/hook-ups/a place to sleep it off.
The restaurant will serve all three meals every day, with seasonal changing menus and the aid of 20 tap beers, cocktails, and coffee by Intelligentsia. The Churchill opens this Friday afternoon.
