The closing frenzy is continuing at a frightening pace, as both Leo’s Coney Island and The Original Mitchell’s have also closed this week. What is going on? As we mentioned yesterday, both Al Primo Canto and Webster Street Cafe shut down unexpectedly. Leo’s, a Detroit-based chain that opened up last year, announced on Twitter yesterday that had to “permanently close its doors and cease operations in Chicago.” At least it made an announcement. The Orginal Mitchell’s, which has been open in various locations around the city since 1950, simply shut its doors on Sunday. According to Eater, it may relocate, but nothing is definite.
