Eater reports that The Spotlight, one of the sketchiest gay bars we’ve ever had the pleasure of not being stabbed at, closed after nearly 50 years in Hollywood on Monday night. While it’s no doubt a loss for the seventies survivors, trannies, and rough-hewn hustlers who actually frequented this joint, it’s also a big blow to the city’s dive bar scene, which has been all but eradicated over the past three years. Apparently, the rent just tripled at The Spotlight, pushing it out. So basically, make way for SBE or Curtis Nysmith or somebody like that. [Eater]
