The Brothers Gold Go Hunting for Shark Fin (On the Menu)

Shortly before toasting to California’s now-approved ban on serving shark fin, Jonathan Gold and his brother Mark took a trip to Rosemead’s Sea Harbor to see how often the ingredient is popping up on dim sum menus. Mark is dismayed to find shark fin dumplings and even worse, a low price tag for this delicacy. Though the Health the Bay president enjoys his chicken knees and pineapple buns, he’s sickened by the idea that so-called “sustainable” shark fin will still be tolerated, arguing that whatever local species is still used “would soon become unsustainable” itself.
