Did Michelle Obama Just Put an End to All-You-Can-Eat Breadsticks?

Now with less sodium.

Now with less sodium.

First Lady Michelle Obama is way beyond urging independent restaurants to offer healthier options — she's got megachains Olive Garden and Red Lobster on the hook now. Darden Restaurants Inc., which owns the two chains, will publicly announce today a pledge to reduce sodium and calories in all meals by 10 percent over five years and 20 percent over ten years. Sugary beverages and French fries will also be phased out of kids' meals, with milk offered to drink instead. (No word on whether kids will still be able to get a stiff drink at Olive Garden.) But healthy or not, this had better not be the end of all-you-can-eat breadsticks. [WP]
