We have a few more details about Matthias Merges’s Logan Square project, including its location. But let’s back up for a minute. Writing for Eater a few days ago, Joe Campagna — who you may also recognize as the Chicago Food Snob — announced that Merges had settled on a name (Yusho) and an opening date (October). Back in February, this yakitori-inspired concept replaced the “craft in America” one Merges originally had in mind. Interestingly, Camapgna later posted an interview with Merges on his own blog, which explained that he was “still going to do American,” but that Yusho better fit with the “space on Kedzie” he found in Logan Square. So, where exactly will Yusho be?

Looks like Merges is renovating the old Primo Lounge space, which is located just north of Diversey * on Kedize. A work permit was issued last month for the space, which included permission for “interior rehab of existing bar with new kitchen.” Also, a contractor working at the building told someone on EveryBlock that a “Japanese restaurant will be going in.” We weren’t able to get a look inside, but the outside obviously needs a little work before it’s opening in October. Still, we’re very excited, as it will also be relatively close to Longman & Eagle and Telegraph.

Definitely check out the rest of the Food Snob’s interview with Merges for more details.

Yusho, 2853 N. Kedzie, Chicago, IL 60618

*This posted has been corrected to show that Yusho is located north of Diversey not Division.
