Health Department Shutters No. 7 (Updated)

By
You'll have to hit No. 7 Sub today for your fix.

A tipster alerted us that Fort Greene favorite No. 7 seemed to have been closed this weekend, with a Department of Health notice on the door, and now Eater gets the full story on the closure: "On Thursday, the Dept. of Health shuttered No. 7 ... after it received two consecutive failing inspections." Evidence of mice, improper use of sanitized utensils, and improperly washed food contact surface were cited. The restaurant's website had chalked the closure up to "repairs," and its voice-mail message informs us No. 7 will reopen tomorrow at 5 p.m. Our attempts to reach the restaurant received no response. Update: Grub Street received an e-mail back from No. 7 chef Tyler Kord, who told us: "We are in fact renovating a little, but at the request of the health department. It seems they don't like field mice, so we're fixing up the basement to keep them out. It's nothing terrible, and it should all be finished tomorrow. So, yes, we should definitely be open for business tomorrow night!"
