Over the last few months, customers who were looking to say hello to some baked manicotti at Ciao Piero instead found the UES restaurant saying good-bye to them, in the form of padlocked doors and dimmed lights. The Northern Italian spot replaced the old One83 earlier this year, and made a point of wooing would-be customers with deals and coupons on various websites — too bad so many of those potential customers found the restaurant closed upon arrival. Now legendary restaurant auctioneer Michael Amodeo, who wields his gavel like Thor handles his hammer (not a euphemism), will clean the place out this afternoon. [Amodeo & Co.]
