At The Taste’s Taco Tequila Tryst we ran into Yamashiro chef Brock Kleweno, who took a second from his taco toils to confirm Eater’s recent rumor that he is opening his own Japanese taco spot in Hollywood this October.

Due for the former H Wood space on Orange Drive, Kleweno is partnering with Yamashiro’s owners on a small space called Komida that will pop up within the club (LAist says Kopmida will commandeer the patio and bar area twice a week). Kleweno says he will start with the same short menu of hybrid tacos found at his stand in Yamashiro’s farmers market, which will close at the end of the month, but plans to expand the Japanese-Mexican offerings as the project takes root. In addition, his wasabi guacamole, salsa, and other side dishes will be packaged and available to take home. Kleweno is looking to an opening in the first week of October.

Komida, 1738 N Orange Dr. Hollywood. 323-871-2262.
