Finally, a year and change after the shuttering of RNM (598 Haight) we get word that the place has finally gotten snapped up by a former Beretta guy and a former front-of-house man from Michael Mina and Saison. Haighteration brings the news, and the name of the new Lower Haight venture is Maven. The guys behind it are Jay Bordeleau and David Kurtz, and the concept centers around a paired menu, “which couples creative cocktails, eclectic wines and international beers with choice culinary selections, in perfect harmony.”

Bordeleau, in addition to one and a half years managing at Beretta, spent some time as sommelier at Bacar and Mecca. And Kurtz served as service captain at Michael Mina, and was a food runner and wine assistant at Gary Danko. So we can probably expect service to be of utmost importance at the new place.

They’ve launched a Twitter account, for those seeking immediate updates. They’ve just signed the least as of September 9, and they appear to be aiming for a fall opening. No word yet as to who they’ll hire as chef.

Update: The partners tell the Chron that they’re aiming for a November opening. As Kurtz says, “”We’re taking standards of service from fine dining and putting them in a neighborhood bar. We want to make sure that people are welcomed in with a warm smile, and also have their water refilled.” [Chron]
