Having good taste and a library card really pays off, especially if you’re Anthony Bourdain. ArtsBeat has the scoop that Tony signed a deal with Ecco, an imprint of HarperCollins, in which he will trend-spot three to five new authors per year, in an official capacity. Daniel Halpern, president and publisher of Ecco, says Bourdain has already been the instigator for authors like Ferran Adrià and Fergus Henderson. In an e-mail to the Times, Halpern says, “Now he’s becoming one of us, sort of.” Sort of being the operative phrase. [ArtsBeat/NYT]
