Yesterday, EV Grieve noticed that a contemporary Mexican spot called Fonda would be taking over the former Octavia’s Porch space on Avenue B, and the Times’ East Village Local Blog (specifically, former Grub Street editor Daniel Maurer) confirms it is in fact going to be a second location of Robert Santibañez’s popular Park Slope restaurant of the same name. They’ll be making a case for their liquor license at Community Board 3’s October meeting, since, you know, you can’t really have Mexican food without margaritas. And Fonda makes some mighty fine margaritas. [EV Grieve, Local/East Village]
