The space at 16 West 22nd Street that originally housed the club Deep is being transformed into Mihoko’s 21 Grams, a high-end French-Japanese restaurant, complete with 1,000-foot pastry shop and retail store. Marble floors are being laid down and posters of classical paintings affixed to walls as the new incarnation from former ballerina Mihoko Kiyokawa readies for a late-October opening. The 70-seat main floor will feature an open kitchen and there will be a private event space downstairs, but Kiyokawa has promised the community board that, unlike Deep, there will be no dancing and the place will be closed each night by midnight.
