Yujean Kang’s Celebrates With Five Courses of Tofu (And Plenty of Meat)

Tony Chen recently expounded on Yujean Kang’s in Pasadena, a Chinese restaurant celebrating 20 years in the frequently-shifting restaurant scene of The San Gab Valley. This Friday evening, chef Kang is preparing a one-night menu highlighting tofu in a five-course pre-fixe dinner priced at $45. Yeah, we know. We say tofu and you get all skeeved out, but the dishes are anything but ordinary and if you know Asian food, tofu rarely foreshadows the expected vegetarian meal. The menu starts with julienne pressed tofu with Chinese ham and chicken, goes on to iced tofu with Szechwan beef, and ends on a sweet soft tofu with sesame ice cream. See the full menu below and make reservations at 626-585-0855.
