Remember all those Healthy Chicago initiatives discussed last week? Looks like the Chicago Park District is taking it seriously, as it announced yesterday that its vending machines will be restocked with only healthy snacks. That’s right, forget about scoring a Snickers after your jog around the park. By the end of the year, a total of 96 vending machines will be filled to the brim with options which are “lower in sodium, sugar and calories.” What are you options now? According to the vending machine we checked out in Humboldt Park’s field house, you’ll be able to chow down on as many Baked Lays as your heart desires. Of course, if that doesn’t quite work for you, there is always the deliciously greasy La Esquina del Sabor food truck nearby. [Sun-Times]
