The iconic, 74-year-old Louis’ Restaurant (902 Point Lobos Avenue) reopened this morning after a battle to hold on to their land lease and a lengthy, sustainable upgrade. Per their new lease with the federal government (the restaurant sits on federal park land), Louis’ had to upgrade their facilities to LEED standards and launch a new menu in which all their food is organic and comes from a 25-mile radius. The restaurant has been owned and operated by the same family, the Hontalases, since 1937. They soft-opened on Monday, with an invite-only guest list, and they’ll be open to the public every day now, promptly at 6:30 a.m. [Facebook, Earlier]
