Chef Joseph Humphrey, who’s credited with earning Meadowood the first two of its Michelin stars in 2007 and who most recently moved on from his post at Murray Circle, has just given us another clue as to his top-secret plans for a restaurant in S.F. Back in May we heard he had his eye on the Union Street environs, and last night at the Sugar & Spice party for S.F. Chefs Humphrey was handing out teaser cards, with the words “Coming Soon…”, and with the name and logo of the upcoming restaurant: Dixie. This suggests a Southern theme, obviously, probably higher-end, and the only other clue we have is that he was twittering from New Orleans last month, specifically from the Palace Café where he had his first real chef job, and where the barbecue shrimp and turtle soup were “as good as [he] remember[s].” “All will be revealed soon,” he promises.
