Members of the fooderati have been tweeting about Frankie’s 570 Spuntino, which seems destined to occupy kinda-open status until it officially bows in time for Fashion Week, we hear. We’ve seen things on Twitter about a “secret door,” which is presumably just the plywood currently covering the entrance, pictured last night in the blog post filed by Bret Thorn of Nation’s Restaurant News. Thorn apparently ran in to Food & Wine’s Dana Cowin and Bon Appétit’s Andrew Knowlton, and some of the morsels they downed included various crostini, saffron arancini stuffed with bolognese, and squid with pickled peppers. Grub Street hears the space will be quite lovely when completed, with high ceilings, big windows, and 30 sidewalk seats. Also: A tipster told us there’ll be prosecco and Campari-and-soda on tap.
