Tokyo-born Akiko Thurnauer has worked at Nobu and the defunct Kitchen Club, and now she’s embarking on her own project, 30-seat Family Recipe, slated to open on the Lower East Side next month. The “Japanese gastropub” fare is made up of small plates like housemade Berkshire pork sausages seasoned with Japanese spices, Bell and Evans “brick chicken” with xo sauce, green pea tofu with caviar, and 36-hour short rib. Family Recipe will serve dinner Tuesday to Sunday, with brunch to follow. Full menu and other details at familyrecipeny.com.
