Its seems like it was just yesterday when two Philly gals named Jen set out for the bright lights of Las Vegas to compete in Top Chef. Now it looks like the two Jens are both on the move again. Yesterday, the Feast reported that staffers at 10 Arts were told Jen Carroll was about to pack her knives and leave. Though Carroll would neither confirm nor deny her departure, she did get all gushy and profess that she and mentor Eric Ripert were still besties. Later the Daily News’ Dan Gross followed up with a few more deets, including that Carroll will stay on board to complete the Celebrity Chef Tour Dinner Series, which wraps up on October 5.
Weeks ago Carroll mentioned in an interview with fellow Northeast-er Arthur Kade that she was exploring the possibility of opening her own restaurant. Needless to say, it was Arthur Kade she was speaking with, so no one took it seriously.
Carroll was unavailable today for comment.
Meanwhile, Philly’s other Jen, Jennifer Zavala, who helmed El Camino Real prior to her Top Chef stint, and spent some time at Xochitl after, is reportedly jumping on the food truck bandwagon. Meal Ticket reports that the former Ozzfest chef is working on a ‘stoner food’ concept that will roll with a converted school bus. Its launch is expected sometime next spring.
