Wirtshaus to Debut Its Biergarten on LaBrea in Late July

We’ve been tracking the endless reproduction of German beer and wiener restaurants in L.A. over the past few weeks and as a backlash begins brewing, we admit to being just a tiny bit cynical ourselves. The forces behind Wirtshaus reach out to let us know that a July 21st opening date is currently being targeted, though no official opening date has been set. They also swear that this won’t be just another Wurstkuche knock-off (despite the whole wirts/wurst thing).

Wirsthaus wants to allay our fears that this is not just a sausage and beer clone, but a full-on authentic German pub experience from German owners and featuring a German chef. In addition to wieners and over 30 draft beers, Wirsthaus plans Californian and German wines, along with housemade pretzels, schnitzel, and knödel over lunch and dinner. The space is pretty much together and dealing with those pesky inspections, and so far we see a tree and flower-lined beer garden taking shape in this former home of Le Sante. See the photos on Facebook and prepare for a debut later this month.

Wirsthaus, opening soon at 345 N La Brea Ave. Mid-City.
