We’re Pretty Sure This Doesn’t Count As Eating Vegetables

The AP is looking at the growing trend of processed, packaged foods that sneak some “vegetables” into the mix. We use the scare quotes there because in the case of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner Veggie Pasta, the vegetable in question is a freeze-dried cauliflower powder that “replace[s] some of the flour in the pasta,” which we’re pretty sure doesn’t actually count as a vegetable. Anyway, the idea seems to be that you’ll trick your kids into eating a vegetable they might not otherwise want to try. But we’ll be honest: We’re not sure sneaking freeze-dried cauliflower powder into your kids’ dinner is the way to make sure they learn about eating a balanced diet. [AP via WP]
