UES 2nd Avenue Deli Coming ‘This Summer’

The long-delayed Upper East Side 2nd Avenue Deli location will open “this summer,” co-owner Josh Lebewohl tells DNA Info, while cautioning that there’s “no firm date.” Back in May, the Post’s Steve Cuozzo speculated (via Twitter) that the new location, in the works since early 2009, had been snagged by a stop-work order. A check on the NYC DOB website reveals that the property, located at 1442 First Avenue and 75th Street, is subject to a “Partial Stop Work Order” stemming from a complaint, but the order was “Partially Rescinded” at the end of May. Between that and a recent trademark dispute, here’s hoping all of it will be cleared up soon so that Upper East Siders can soon get some pastrami, gribenes, and all the Instant Heart-Attack Sandwiches their hearts desire.
