It appears that The Strand House, Manhattan Beach’s emerging seaside restaurant that finds Travis Lorton in the kitchen and Neal Fraser consulting on the menu, is soon going to be up and operating. According to contractors working on the project, the restaurant is currently looking to a soft-opening date of July 30th, while a posting on Craigslist looking for kitchen staff and the restaurant’s website puts an opening closer to early August. Already, the space looks much more promising than its past occupants.

The exterior has already vastly improved upon the Reagle Beagleness of former occupant Beaches, with towering glass walls looking out over the ocean being installed and nary a drop of weird yellow paint. In fact, it looks just like the many contemporary houses that now line The Strand after so many single-story beach houses met with their destruction. What a fitting metaphor, as this new raw bar, handmade cocktails, and new American restaurant could surely be a game-changer if the locals can find as much love for this one as they have for Uncle Bill’s Pancake House. Follow The Strand House on Facebook for updates on its arrival.
