John Taus admits he’s not much of bartender, but when it came time to give The Corner’s cocktail list an update for the summer, the chef had some thoughts about what he wanted to see on it. So he took his ideas for a watermelon cocktail, a lemonade and rye, and a gin, Campari and grapefruit, which he says is the only thing he drinks in the summertime, to the restaurant’s head bartender, Kaitlin Green, and together they concocted the new drinks together. “I’ve bartended here and there,” Taus told Grub Street. “I’m not very good at it, but I’m not awful at it either.”

“This is a serious collaboration,” Taus added. “It’s not like it was all my ideas. I just kind of pushed the menu in the right direction.”

Some highlights from the collaboration include Wet Hot American Summer, Veev, tequila, lime, watermelon and Combier; Rye Lemonade, rye, fresh lemon juice and egg whites; and Summer Fling, Campari, gin, grapefruit and lime. Check out the entire list here.
