Rockefeller Center’s iconic Rainbow Room has been closed for two years, but the Post has it that renovations have begun on both the 65th-floor dining room and the kitchen, one floor below. Reportedly the floor-to-ceiling windows are being replaced, and electrical and plumbing systems are having work done; the chandelier, inlaid-wood dance floor, and domed ceiling should remain intact. Landlord Tishman Speyer is staying mum about whom consultant Elizabeth Blau might be working with after the Ciprianis — the joint’s last operators — defaulted on rent back in 2009. However, with historic landmark status pending for the restaurant’s interior, signs indicate that the new look will be more of a polish than a complete overhaul. [NYP via DNA Info]
