The odds-on favorite in the first season The Great Food Truck Race, L.A.’s Nom Nom Truck (who actually came in second in a major upset), is multiplying itself and expanding north. Grub Street received word from the Nom Nom folks this a.m. that they’re in the process of hiring some locals to operate a San Francisco truck, and we assume they’re also in the process of landing themselves some highly sought-after permits. They’ll be announcing their exact debut date (they’re hoping for this month) and launch location via Twitter. We can’t say ourselves how their lemongrass chicken banh mi sandwiches stack up against Saigon Sandwich, but we’re sure there will be much debate about this when they make their first appearances.
