Illuminare Calls It Quits; Far From Home Ends Its Run

Say so long to Illuminare. Apparently the Fairmount neighborhood Italian joint is calling it quits just short of its 10th anniversary. A note outside the restaurant says it will be closed through Labor Day, but citing “family issues,” the Insider says it’s closed indefinitely. It’s website simply says, “Thanks.” And if that’s not enough bad news for you, the dudes behind the Far From Home truck, a fairly new entrant into the city’s mobile munch fleet, are hanging it up. Meal Ticket says Larry Comroe, one of the truck’s founders, is turning his attention to writing a book about food trucks and another street food consulting opportunity. Though he and his partners are trying to sell the truck and business, Thursday, July 21 will be its last day at Love Park.
