Garrett Popcorn just released a rendering of a location planned for 87th Street near Cottage Grove Ave. Though this will be the tenth Chicago outlet for the gourmet popcorn shop, just about every detail about this proposal differs from its previous storefronts. Besides the two locations at O’Hare, every other Garrett Popcorn is in the Loop and River North area. Instead, this one will be in the South Side neighborhood of Chatham, some 13 miles away from downtown. It will also be in a standalone building, which appears to have a drive-thru. We can only hope! Waiting for a CaramelCrisp® & CheeseCorn™ combo in your car has to be more comfortable than waiting on a freezing street corner outside one of Garrett’s downtown locations. [Gapers Block]
