Gardenia, the latest indoor-outdoor restaurant to take up residence at the Art Alliance building on 18th St. near Manning St. (catercorner to Rittenhouse Square) is closing up shop after brunch on Sunday. But it won’t stay dark for long. A rep from Restaurant Associates, Gardenia’s operators, told Grub Street the company will begin renovations in the space soon, and have it completely reconceptualized and ready for a launch this fall. Details are few and far between, but Michelin-starred chef Ed Brown, formerly of New York’s Eighty One, is on board, as well as Philadelphia-based designer Elizabeth Knapp, who did the interiors at Zahav, Xochitl and Percy Street Barbecue.
