Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, the New Bar from the Bullitt/Tonic/Rebel Team, to Open This Weekend

The team behind Bullitt, Tonic, and most recently Rebel (Ben Bleiman, Duncan Ley, and partner Mark DeVito) have a new fourth bar in their empire set to debut this weekend. The name, as Eater first reported, is Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem (2323 Mission at 19th) — named for the famed Muppets house band, featuring Floyd, Janice, Rizzo, and Dr. Teeth himself. And an informant close to the situation informed Grub Street last night that the bar we once thought might be called Brass Monkey, which is taking over the former Bissap Baobab space, is having a surprise soft-opening any minute now. They figure everyone will just end up calling it Mayhem.

The new interior, which we’re hoping to see shortly, is said to be “pretty crazy.” And with the Muppets as inspiration, our hopes are pretty high. As for the food program, there will be a burger with a near-deadly ghost pepper on it, and fried chicken served with a jelly doughnut.

Until we can bring you further details, please enjoy this classic video clip of Dr. Teeth and his band. (And we also recommend their cover of “Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover,” with Floyd on vocals.
