Some news before the long weekend: Diner’s Journal is reporting that Compose — the Tribeca newcomer that lost its chef earlier this month — will shutter this weekend. But it won’t be gone forever: Instead, owner Jodi Richard says she’s hired Matthew Lightner of Castagna in Portland, Oregon (and a Food & Wine Best New Chef winner in 2010), to take over as her chef. The restaurant is scheduled to reopen — with a new test kitchen and a new name — in September. [Diner’s Journal/NYT]
