When a bartender turns to baking, it makes sense she’d want to throw in what’s readily at hand — namely, alcohol. As such, the buns, cakes, and pies that fill the shelves at Jane’s Sweet Buns, from Cienfuegos mixologist Jane Danger and owner Ravi DeRossi, are brimming with booze. Swashbuckling types might enjoy the Rum Runner (a bun glazed in aged rum, Galliano liqueur, cinnamon, and other good stuff), while manly sorts can try the savory Southern Special (Bourbon, bacon, brown sugar, nectarine, white cheddar), and there are a few nonalcoholic options for the abstemious. As you can see, the brightly painted shop is as sweet and quirky as the confections it sells. Word is the bakery should debut tomorrow or Wednesday; hours start at 11 a.m. daily and, for post-dinner snorts of sugar and booze, Jane’s will stay open till 10 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, 11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and midnight Friday and Saturday.
